Umm Al Quwain DED Integrates the e-Dirham System into its Operations

As of today, Umm Al Quwain DED shall initiate working via the new licensing system using the national ID as well as the e-Dirham system. This comes within the Development plans of the Department of Economic Development (DED), which is designed to improve the turn around time for customers.

Mansour Sultan Al Kharjy, Director of the Department, revealed that the first stage of the system application shall include the integration of the new licensing system using the national ID alongside the e-Dirham system in issuing new commercial lease contracts in cooperation with the Department of Planning and Survey.

He also noted that the DED, during this phase of its development, hopes to save more than half of the time consumed by the customer in finalizing a transaction, as well as monitoring all registered lease contracts, in light of the fact that the DED works an integrated framework that includes strategic partners e.g. companies and printing houses operating within the Emirate. “The next phase of implementing the system, which shall be announced later, shall obligate all property owners to register their properties in the Department so that the Department will be able to monitor the real-estate market in the Emirate as well as violations of its regulations, and also to cancel all contracts executed without the knowledge of the Department, Al Kharjy added.

He explained that, in cooperation with National Bank of Umm Al Quwain ,NBQ shall have its own office within DED in order to facilitate the issuance of e-Dirham cards for those who don’t have it, in addition to the possibility of recharging the cards, since conducting transactions via e-Dirham system has become a necessity in various government departments and institutions. NBQ shall also provide an ATM machine with cash withdrawal and cash deposit facility

The Director of DED has also highly regarded the directions of H.E. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Muala, Federal Supreme Council Member, and Governor of Umm Al Quwain. Also, H.E. Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Muala, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, has expressed his keenness to provide effective support to the efforts of development exerted in various sectors.
